Finally the construction starts. All hand sketches, computer drawing, models and researches have significantly contributed on building up this “living wall”.

The material selected for the wall structure is recycled timber. We use timber simply because it is probably the most commonly used building material there is. It is strong, flexible, readily available and renewable resource.  Next step was fixing the plywood to the frame. We use plywood mainly because it is a recycled material. Fixing the waterproof was the last job before filling the wall with soil. We use a 0.2 mm plastic wrap and connected it with staples. After doing so, we filled the frame with composted soil to give the grass nutrients and reduce embodied energy. To hold the soil in place we use chicken wire stapled to the frame. Lastly we plant seeds.
